11th International Congress of the Polish Neuroscience Society
Dear Friends
We have a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 11th International Congress of the Polish Neuroscience Society, which will be held Poznań, Poland, from September 15th to 17th, 2013.
The Polish Neuroscience Society was established in 1991 and one of the most important forms of its activity are congresses, organized every two years. Till now these events had taken place in Warsaw, Cracow, Gdańsk, Toruń and Łódź. Each of these congresses provided the forum to present the research results for neuroscientists working on molecular, structural, and functional aspects of the nervous system. The approaching, 11th Congress traditionally will comprise plenary lectures, given by outstanding neuroscientists working all over the world, symposia, and poster sessions. All the Congress abstracts will be published in Acta Neurobiologiae Experimentalis, the official journal of the Polish Neuroscience Society. The abstract book and Congress materials will be available on-line in the electronic version of the journal (www.ane.pl).
We are especially glad to host the Congress in Poznań, one of the country’s oldest cities, an important political and religious center in the early Polish state of the 10th century, and the historical capital of our country in times of the Piast dynasty. The Poznań Cathedral is the oldest church in Poland, containing the tombs of the first Polish rulers, Duke Mieszko I and the first Polish King Bolesław Chrobry. The Old Market Square offers a possibility to admire numerous renaissance architecture monuments, including the famous city hall. Tradition of the university level education in Poznań begins with a foundation of Lubrański Academy in the 16th century.
Today our city hosts 130 000 young people studying at several public and private universities, among them Adam Mickiewicz University, University of Medical Sciences, University of Life Sciences, University of Technology, University of Economics, University of Arts, Academy of Music and University School of Physical Education. Modern Poznań is a fast developing city, a center of important commercial exhibitions (International Fair in Poznań), cultural events (the annual theatrical Malta Festival, International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition), and sport (Rowing and Canoeing World Championships).
The 11th International Congress of the Polish Neuroscience Society will be organized in a modern four-star hotel Novotel, in a close vicinity to the railway station, and in a walking distance to the historical city center.
We hope that the Congress will provide all participants with an opportunity for presenting and discussing their recent scientific data, and for visiting numerous attractive places in Poznań.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee

IBRO Summer School

Update:
The application deadline has been extended to May, 31. Do not miss it!
On the behalf of Student Neuroscience Society NEURONUS, co-organizing the summer school with the Department of Neurophysiology and Chronobiology of Jagiellonian University, we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the Visiting Lecture Team Programme IBRO to be held in the Institute of Zoology in Krakow, on June 27 – July 5, 2012.
This intensive, 9-day lecture programme will provide systematic explanations of experiments that have led to our understanding in key areas of basic neuroscience, and it will expose a variety of issues of current interest in these areas. In addition to students of neuroscience, interested students in the general fields of medicine, biology, chemistry, physics and computer science are welcome to apply.
Each participant who will confirm his/her attendance is obliged to participate in all lectures and short question-answer sessions. The members of the lecture team, all of whom are internationally recognized teachers and researchers, will also lead smaller group discussions.
We are eagerly waiting to welcome you in Krakow, and we want to encourage you to check the available schedule! In case of any questions and/or suggestions, feel free to contact us via e-mail given on the website.
Since 1994, the VLTP has given more than 40 courses in 26 countries. Since 2003, Professor Jack McMahan from Texas A&M University has been this programme’s director, preceded by Professor John Nicholls from International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste. Professor Nicholls is co-author of the popular textbook “From Neuron to Brain”, which has just been published in a new edition.
This year, we have an honour of being visited by both of these outstanding scientists!

Konferencja : NEURONUS 2012
